The University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova marked the 13th anniversary of its establishment with a solemn event organized in the Rectorate hall, where the monograph “The Establishment of the Public University in Gjakova – The Contribution of the Association of Intellectuals ‘Jakova’” by Mr. Malush Tullumi was promoted.

The event was organized by the University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova in cooperation with the Association of Intellectuals “Jakova”. Representatives of institutions, members of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts, academic and administrative staff, students, as well as a large number of members of the Association of Intellectuals “Jakova” attended the event. Through their dedication and engagement over the years, they have made a valuable contribution to the educational, cultural, and intellectual development of the city of Gjakova. Among the attendees were also family members of academics and intellectuals who contributed to the establishment of the university.

In his welcoming speech, the Rector of the University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova, Prof. Ass. Dr. Drilon Bunjaku, emphasized that this day represents an important moment of reflection on the university’s journey and development over the years. He stated that marking the university’s anniversary becomes even more special as it coincides with the promotion of a monograph documenting the contribution of the city’s intellectuals to the process of establishing the public university in Gjakova.

Rector Bunjaku stressed that the efforts to establish the university were the result of joint institutional and civic engagement. He underlined that the fact that the university bears the name of academician Prof. Dr. Fehmi Agani, a personality who dedicated his life to knowledge, peace, and the national cause, obliges everyone to continue with dedication the further development and advancement of the university as an institution of knowledge, scientific research, and service to society.

Furthermore, Rector Bunjaku noted that this anniversary also finds the university with a new institutional development, namely the Faculty of Applied Sciences, which offers the Engineering Informatics program. He emphasized that through this faculty, UFAGj is contributing directly to the preparation of young professionals in the field of information technology and engineering, responding to labor market demands and the rapid technological developments of our time. He also highlighted that during these 13 years, UFAGj has transformed into an important center of higher education and professional preparation in various academic fields, contributing to the educational and social development of the country.

At the end of his speech, Rector Bunjaku congratulated all students, academic and administrative staff on the University Day, thanking them for their work and dedication over the years. He expressed hope that future anniversaries will find UFAGj even stronger in its institutional role and in fulfilling its mission of developing knowledge, advancing scientific research, strengthening academic cooperation, and contributing to the development of society.

The President of the Association of Intellectuals “Jakova”, Prof. Dr. Ruzhdi Sefa, then emphasized the importance of documenting the history of the efforts to establish the university in Gjakova. He assessed that this monograph represents an important testimony to the role of intellectuals and the community in the educational development of the region.

During the promotion, the editor of the monograph Mr. Emin Azemi and the reviewers of the work elaborated on the content and importance of this publication, emphasizing that the monograph represents an important historical and academic document that demonstrates the institutional and civic journey toward the establishment of the public university in Gjakova. In their assessments, it was highlighted that the book is based on archival documents, testimonies, and analyses that chronologically present the efforts and initiatives that led to the realization of this educational project.

The author of the monograph, Mr. Malush Tullumi, thanked all collaborators, institutions, and intellectuals who contributed to the realization of this work, emphasizing that documenting the history of the university’s establishment represents a moral and academic obligation for present and future generations.

The attendees were also addressed by the former Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Education, Prof. Ass. Dr. Ardian Gola, who highly appreciated the contribution of intellectuals and congratulated the 13th anniversary of the establishment of the University “Fehmi Agani” in Gjakova.

The ceremony concluded with the author presenting several copies of the monograph to the Rector, which will become part of the University library’s collection.
